During our Business Meeting in San Antonio we finalized Plattsburgh, New York located on the shores of Lake Champlain and the dates September 6 – 10, 2012 for the next reunion as we return to the site of our Association founding 10 years ago.
This timing ties in with the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. We expect to march in the parade on Saturday or Sunday, whichever date held.
We have contracted with the recently renovated Comfort Inn in Plattsburgh. This hotel has been expanded and refurbished since our first stay back in 2002.
Plattsburgh can be reached via the Montreal airport then a relatively short drive (63 miles) or by flying into Burlington, VT then crossing Lake Champlain by ferry, about a 90 minute trip. Remember if you go via Montreal you’ll need a current passport that preferably doesn’t expire within 6 months of your visit.
Jacksonville (Mayport), FL was chosen for our 2013 reunion site. Because of the hurricane season, October is favored over September. The dates of October 2-7, 2013 will be firmed up ASAP as we complete arrangements with Crown Plaza Riverfront Hotel. Be sure to block off this time on your calendar. We’re expecting a great turnout. There are many fine restaurants nearby. MRP advises this is a great location for reunions and Jacksonville is very Navy-Friendly with many interesting things to do there.
